Richland County Fair Article 2016

The Crestview FFA had great success at the 2016 Richland County Fair. During the week of August sixth through the thirteenth, twenty chapter members that were representing Crestview had triumph in every species entered. Early in the week, Clorissa Moore did well in the alpaca show, winning alpaca high point and first in her Pro Showmanship class. On Monday, fourteen members participated in the feeder calf show. Four students, including; Jay Oswalt, Maddy Maust, Justin Bond, and Kadie Myers had feeder calf projects awarded either first or second place for their weight class. Jay Oswalt went on to finish at sixth overall Grand Champion dairy feeder calf. After the dairy calves, Kathy Lehman, LaCrisha Sauder, Brynn Witmer, and Molly and Emma Ardis exhibited their beef feeder calves. Kathy Lehman took home the Reserve Grand Champion beef feeder calf honor. Next, on Tuesday Chris and Cody Loughman participated in the market goat show. Third year member, Chris, went on to win fourth overall Grand Champion with his boer goat, Nibbles. On Wednesday, Kathy Lehman represented Crestview FFA in the beef breeding show. She was awarded Junior show Grand and Reserve Champion beef breeding female and also won her Pro Showmanship class. On Wednesday evening, Abby Motter, Kelcie Chance, and Justin Bond were showmen in the Market Hog show. Justin Bond honored the memory of Crestview’s Walker Ramsay by showing his friend’s market hog. On Thursday, Breanna Swank, and Chris and Cody Loughman participated in the market lamb show. Both Breanna and Chris finished within the Top Eight Overall Grand Champions. To finish the week, on Saturday each of the members were supported by the Crestview FFA Buyers Club and various other local business at the junior fair livestock auction.
