State Convention 2017

This year, 26 members of the Crestview FFA chapter traveled to Columbus, Ohio on May 4 and 5th to attend the 89th State FFA Convention at the Ohio State Fairgrounds. First stop on the trip was helping out with Meals of Hope. The chapter completed 2 hours of work for Meals of Hope working with more than 15 other schools in Ohio. Members in the Crestview chapter, as well as others throughout Ohio, were informed more on the fight against hunger. During the first session of the convention the Crestview FFA was recognized for donating money to Camp Muskingum and listened to keynote speaker Amberley Snyder who gave a touching speech about her recovery after being in a bad accident that resulted in her being paralyzed from the waist down. The next day at the third session we had Kathy Lehman and Jenna Purvis get proficiency awards. Kathy Lehman placed 2nd in Beef Production Entrepreneurship and Jenna Purvis placed 4th in the state Dairy Production Placement. In the next session we had two officers get a gold rating on their officer books. Erin Bernhard got a gold rating on her Treasurer book and Kadie Myers got a gold rating on her Reporter book. Then at the last session the Crestview FFA had 10 members get their state degree. The 10 members are Emma Ardis, Erin Bernhard, Kathy Lehman, Jay Oswalt, Justin Bond, Shane Casper, Kadie Myers, Sarah Stuart, Katlyn Yoho and Walker Ramsay. In memory of Walker, Skylar Ramsay went up on stage to accept the award on Walker’s behalf.
