Meals Of Hope
Over the span of the past couple months, the Crestview FFA Chapter has been working hard to make a community service project called Meals of Hope possible The overall goal of Meals of Hope is to promote and stop hunger within our community. Meals of Hope is set to take place during on  Friday February, 19th which will be the conclusion of our FFA Week activities. During this project, the entire high school will come together to pack 50,000 meals as a schoolwide service learning project. A local survey conducted by the chapter found that 1 in 10 people of the Crestview community are affected by hunger. At the cost of only $0.25 per meal, we are able to provide comforting, healthy food to families who would otherwise go without. To reach our goal of packing 50, 000 meals, we will need to raise $12,500. By supporting the chapter with this project, you are providing the Crestview student body with the opportunity to give back to the community through a hands on service learning project, and showcase social responsibility. Crestview FFA Holds Local Ag. Tour

On October 14, 2015, the Crestview FFA Chapter offered members the opportunity to go on a local agricultural tour. Members traveled to Turk Brothers Custom Meats Inc, E R Boliantz Packing Co, JLynn Jersey’s Farm, the Grauer’s Farm, and the Lehman’s Farm. While touring Turk Brothers facility, we got the chance to see how they harvest, clean, and process their meat. Afterward, members traveled to E R Boliantz Packing Co. While on the tour, we were shown where the meat is first brought in, where the meat is cleaned and cut, and where the meat is kept and stored cold. We then traveled to JLynn Jersey’s Farm owned by Kyle and Jenny Bernhard. Jenny Bernhard gave us a tour of their dairy farm showing us their milking parlor, calf pens, and cow barns. At JLynn Jersey’s, all of the milk that is produced on the farm is shipped and processed into swiss cheese. After touring JLynn Jersey’s we traveled to the Lehman’s Farm where members were shown grain processing systems, the barn and systems used to raise their show cattle, and their piglet farrowing barn. Members then got to see corn being harvested and taken to both the Lehman’s and the Grauer’s grain drying facilities. Both Gary Lehman and Dave Grauer took time out of harvesting their crops to answer our many questions and give us insight on the up and coming things in agriculture. The next stop on the tour was the Grauer Farm where we were greeted by John Grauer, who graciously took time out of fitting and working with calves to talk to us and show us some of the cattle that he has bred and raised himself. John Grauer, being a Crestview  FFA alumni, gave the students of our group something to idolize when he talked about his start with two cattle his freshman year of highschool to where he is now with sixty-five show cattle and many champion titles under his belt. The members of the Crestview FFA would like to thank everyone who took the time out of their day to talk to us and enlighten our students on their roles in agriculture.
